River Road Truffles
Our River Road Truffiere is located in Appleby, outside of Nelson. We grow the Périgord or Black Truffle – the classic truffle of French haute cuisine and a regional speciality in Périgord and Provence.
Considered the finest of edible fungi, our Périgord truffles are for gastronomes who love gourmet food and who wish to enjoy and delight in the mysterious realm of truffles.
Grown in fine Maori gravels and the rich silt loam of the Waimea plains, our Oak and Hazelnut trees produce truffles with a unique terrior. The combination of our soils, the climate and the weather define what is so special about our River Road Truffles.
River Road Truffles are harvested in the winter months. The season runs from early winter (May – June) through until late winter (August, early September).
